Innate Response Formulas boasts an impressive collection of supplements that are third-party certified so we felt confident trusting this manufacturer to come up with a high quality anemia product. Innate Response Formulas Iron Response is non-GMO, vegan-friendly and free of gluten, dairy and soy. This product immediately drew our attention due to the impressive list of ingredients on the label. It contains almost all the ingredients we have found to be proven to combat anemia and target low Iron levels, however, it does come up short when compared to our first choice.
The formula for Innate Response Formulas Iron Response is shown clearly and is fully transparent, which is something we certainly look for and appreciate. It contains 26 mg of Iron Bisglycinate Chelate, the gentler, more soluble form of Iron. We found 26 mg to be slightly higher than it should be, however we like that they used the more absorbable form of Iron. We were also impressed that they had the foresight to include Vitamin C, which helps the Iron absorb better into the bloodstream. However, we were disappointed that the amount of Vitamin C added is so low at just 15 mg.
Another impressive ingredient that was included is Folate which helps bolster hemoglobin levels. However, it is in the form of Folic Acid which is synthetic and still needs to be converted into Folate by the body, by which stage much of the nutrient is lost. Additionally, we were impressed with the inclusion of Vitamin B12, even though it is a rather minimal amount at just 30 mcg, we appreciate that the manufacturer does include this vitamin to help combat deficiencies.
Another point to highlight regarding this product is that we didn’t find any mention of a cGMP certification, nor did we find a money-back satisfaction guarantee. When comparing products, we tend to veer towards manufacturers that provide these claims, simply because it is in the true interest of the consumer.
Overall we found this product to be a formidable competitor, with about a hundred reviews on Amazon which are mainly positive. We found it unfortunate that we could not find any manufacturer website with more details about the company and where their products are sourced from. Considering it is slightly cheaper than our first choice, it may appeal to consumers, although we do not recommend picking cheap over quality products where you can put your health at risk.
There are no mentioned side effects of taking this product. As with any new supplement or diet introduced into your daily life, we always advise talking to your healthcare professional about possible contraindications of any pre-existing medical conditions or medications that you are taking. Supplements work differently for everyone and the effects vary between individuals so it is always a good idea to run any health changes by a professional.
We believe that Innate Response Formulas has an effective anemia supplement. However, while it contains a considerable amount of active ingredients all known to help combat anemia caused by various deficiencies, it didn’t quite meet all our requirements for a top-quality anemia product. While this product does contain a more soluble, gentler form of Iron, as well as Vitamin C, Folate and Vitamin B12, the amounts are less than ideal. We also would have liked to see the addition of Vitamin A and a thermogenic enhancer such as black pepper to boost bioavailability. We do appreciate that this product has third-party certifications, however we did not find a cGMP certificate nor a satisfaction guarantee, and for that reason we placed it as our second choice.
